The Public Works Department works with the community to establish and implement the city's long-term vision and goals, and ensures that growth and development is safe and consistent with city policy.

Capital Improvement & Street Projects
The Engineering Division manages capital improvement projects. Projects include building new streets, widening or restoring existing streets, and constructing new public buildings and facilities.

Engineering Division
The Engineering Division is responsible for planning, design, construction, repair, maintenance, and operation of the city’s transportation, drainage, and capital improvement projects. Divisions include Development Engineering, Traffic Engineering and the Stormwater Utility.

Long Range Planning
The Department supports preparation of many of the city's long range plans, including the Comprehensive Plan, Transporation Improvement Plan, and other documents.

The Permit Center is open for business! An appointment is not necessary to meet with staff at the counter; walk-ins are welcome.

Solid Waste Management
City of Spokane Valley self-haul solid waste transfer, transportation and disposal services are provided under a contract with Sunshine Recyclers, Inc.

Street Maintenance & Pavement Preservation
This city division provides street repair and pavement management, as well as street sweeping, deicing and snowplowing.
