South Barker Road Corridor Projects
Traffic congestion in the south Barker Road corridor has increased rapidly due to extensive growth in the city, county and neighboring Liberty Lake. The city is planning improvement projects on south Barker Road from Mission Avenue to the city boundary just south of 8th Street.
View a recorded virtual public meeting (video file) held June 8, 2022, to share information about these projects or view just the presentation slides (PDF) used in the meeting.
Current conditions in the corridor include a three-lane road north of Boone Avenue with bike lanes, curb, gutter and sidewalks; a two-lane road south of Boone without curb, gutters or sidewalks; and single-lane roundabouts at the I-90 interchange. The city is working to improve the quality of both Barker Road and various intersections.
