Glenrose-Central Park Floodplain Delineation

Changes to the Floodplain Boundary

Southwest Spokane Valley or adjacent Spokane County properties are located in or near a FEMA-designated floodplain and may affect property insurance requirements and premium costs. The City and Spokane County have partnered to update the accuracy of these floodplains.

Public Meeting

The City hosted a public meeting on May 1, 2025, to discuss the floodplain delineation process and how it may impact property owners. To learn more about topics discussed at the meeting, see the PowerPoint presentation here

Background Information

Since 2018 the City and Spokane County have been studying the FEMA-designated floodplains in the southwest portion of the City and adjacent portions of the County, specifically in the Glenrose and Central Park watersheds. For more details, reference the hydraulic analysis and hydrology report.

The primary goal of the study is to accurately map the floodplain boundaries and determine the risk from flooding. Preliminary results of the draft updated floodplain boundaries indicate that some properties currently in the floodplains will be removed, some will continue to be in a floodplain and some properties currently not in a floodplain will be included in one.

The map below includes the existing 100-year floodplain boundary (shown in gold), and the draft proposed 100-year floodplain boundary (shown in blue). See the full size map here.
