[ARCHIVED] Pines Road, Mission Avenue Construction Complete

News Release

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:  August 1, 2024

Spokane Valley, WA – Construction on one of the City of Spokane Valley’s most traveled intersections, Pines Road and Mission Avenue, is complete as of Thursday, August 1.

The project improvements include:

  • A dedicated right-turn lane on southbound Pines Road for motorists turning west onto Mission Avenue
  • Two dedicated left-turn lanes on eastbound Mission Avenue directing motorists onto northbound Pines Road
  • Intersection markings to change the thru-left lane on westbound Mission Avenue into a dedicated left-turn lane onto southbound Pines Road
  • Modified traffic signal operations to improve traffic flow through the intersection and reduce congestion
  • Installation of stormwater dry well and improvements to the catch basin

The Pines Road and Mission Avenue project is one of several in the city’s 2024 construction schedule. To support local businesses that nearby construction projects can potentially impact, the City is launching a one-month messaging campaign encouraging community members to buy local first and patronize Spokane Valley businesses.

Spokane Valley Mayor Pam Haley said “Road construction projects are imperative as our city grows, as they improve safety, reduce congestion, improve overall traffic flow, and often include stormwater upgrades to protect our drinking water. However, the impacts of construction can be challenging to our local businesses, so it’s important we support them. Join me in shopping and dining locally, and together, let’s show our businesses how much they mean to Spokane Valley.”
